“Estill县, the fiftieth in order of formation, was established on February 19th, 1808, from parts of Clark and 麦迪逊 counties. It was named in honor of Capt. 詹姆斯·斯蒂尔，在1782年3月22日斯蒂尔战败时被印第安人杀害. 该县位于肯塔基州东部，面积256平方英里, bordered by Clark, 杰克逊, 李, 麦迪逊, and Powell counties. The county seat is Irvine.
